Greetings from the Mesa
Tongy has stabilized with fluids, and he’s a little less wobbly with some serious compensating. He’s going back to the vet on the 28th to see what the next steps are… Just keeping him cozy and loved. I have finally made it out to the studio workshop twice this week to set up stuff. Today I’m heading out there to organize the space so I can get to work in there over the coming months. While there I picked up the guitar for the first time in ages. I can still play! Huzzah. We are awaiting the arrival of the hummingbirds – any day now. In the meantime enjoying the acrobatic antics of the Says Phoebes. We went down to Española on Tuesday so I could do some business and we picked up some fresh veggies from Khalsa Family Farms (they gave us so much lovely extra stuff in our bundle, going to make carrot muffins later today). Their geothermal greenhouses are amazing, and the quality of their produce is awesome. On the way back we stopped for burgers and root beer floats (nom) at Sugar’s in Velarde, and enjoyed their outdoor patio area. Trying to get out of the house on adventures on a weekly basis. Yay! Yesterday I helped KP get our outdoor wireless back online, it’s been knocked out twice now, once by wind cutting the cable on the metal roof, and once chewed by rodents. We’ll see how long it lasts this time now that the cable is wrapped in metal duct foil and run through flexible conduit at the roofline. There is always something to work on with mother nature. And so it goes…
Curiosities
- My Years-Long Fight to Say “They” (The Nation) “Over and over again, I would use the pronoun in my writing. Over and over again, editors would try to remove it.”
- They Grew Up With Smartphones. This Is How They Live Without Them. (NYT Gift Link) Anemoia – a nostalgia for a time you weren’t alive. I’m mostly done with my personal degoogle process, I didn’t go the dumbphone route, and I need to write an entire post about the process.
- Our homemade pasta adventures continue, we did a fettucine alfredo this week and it was so delicious. We still need to try an authentic version (ours had cream). Honestly it will be very hard to ever go back to packaged pasta – homemade is not hard and it is so much tastier.
- Putting on my to buy list: Processing – 100 Comics That Got Me Through It by Tara Booth and Murdle: Volume 1 – 100 Elementary to Impossible Mysteries to Solve Using Logic, Skill, and the Power of Deduction
- effy: a literary magazine Effy Literary Magazine (n.) a magazine dedicated to pulling perpetual, transient artists and their ephemeral work into publication and recognition.
