Week 05-26 - Curiosities

Greetings from the Mesa

How are we already at the end of January already? It's crazy. This month has been a mix of cozy and productive. I'm deep into the editing of Almanac of Wonder and Wander #2, and have been keeping up with the 30 day art challenge. Feeling so much more alive and the ideas are flowing. A lovely change. I've had to really pare back the news viewing, and try to keep it to one newsletter of updates a day. It's all too much and the incompetency of our government to do anything about the chaos really pisses me off. I'm ready to take Friday off for the National Shutdown!

Curiosities of the Week

  1. How Losing My Limbs Turned Me Into a Different Kind of Cook (NYT GIFT LINK) Yewande Komolafe shares her beautiful story of resilience. Her recipes are some of my favorites on the NYT. This brown butter cornmeal cake sounds yum!
  2. January 30th National Shutdown!
  3. Need something random - Pug in a Rug - discovered via the Useless Web
  4. The Metropolitan Museum of Art has put nearly half a million pieces of art online. Lose yourself in their collection.
  5. "The day you stop learning is the day you begin decaying" - Isaac Asimov. What are you learning right now? I'm thinking about doing some free classes from MIT Open Learning.
