Week 14-26 – Curiosities

Sky Drama on the Mesa

Greetings from the Mesa

Bit behind schedule this week due to dealing with a sickly Kitonga. Last Thursday he fell off the couch and we noticed he was wobbling all over the place. We took him down to Santa Fe to the 24 hour emergency vet. His blood numbers were skewed so they kept him overnight on fluids and referred us to a kitty neurologist. We went down to Albuquerque on Tuesday and the neurologist ran more blood work. Tongy is otherwise behaving normally except for wobbling/vertigo. We are giving him subcutaneous fluids until we have a better idea of what’s going on. Hopefully we have some answers and a way forward when the results come back this week. It’s been stressful. We did get to try some Amy’s Donuts while in ABQ. They were pretty tasty but Whoo’s in SF is better. Spring is springing mightily. Garlic is a foot tall already, the claret cup cacti are blooming a month early, the birds are doing their spring thing. I’ve been editing the next batch of Nix/86 and trying to get back on track with that project. I’m up to 10 miles of “biking” a day on my little under desk cycle. I started at 5 mins and 0 tension, and now i’m up to 46 minutes and at least 3 full rotations on the tension. Legs are slowly getting stronger again! So, a lot going on – time for more forward momentum. Back to our regularly scheduled Wednesday newsletter this week!

Curiosities

  1. Another local mesa dweller has interviewed a 94 year old living off grid nearby. Jez seems like a really interesting woman! Watch the interview here.

  2. A million new SpaceX satellites will destroy the night sky — for everyone on Earth. EFF Musk!

  3. KP took a ceramics class, and has been sending me links to random artists. Myrsini Alexandridi hand paints tiles into really cool tile sculptures. Digging!

  4. If the European Novel Thinks Like a Person, the African Novel Thinks Like a World. Adding this book to my reading list. Also adding Bronze Faces to my reading list.

  5. Is Contemporary art ending?
